Choosing a side and a height

Fit it on the stronger side of the person who will use it, within natural reach when they are seated.

It gives a fixed handhold to push up from at the point where standing takes the most effort, and the foam grip stays warm and sure under the hand.

What installation needs

This is a solid wall fitting. It goes into studs, or into masonry with rated anchors — a bar is only as strong as what it is fixed to.

Once it is up, it flips flat to the wall, so it does not get in the way of anyone else using the room.
